According to SCT system, new motor vehicles (and motorized equipment) headed to Uganda will fall under the single window / single customs territory system.
Kenfreight has its own fully developed office in Uganda so we are ready to handle this, but for our clients who ship such equipment on DAP Uganda basis (i.e. the choice of clearing agent in Uganda is left to the final receiver or part of a different contract) they need to be aware that port clearance/shipping line clearance will have to be done by this agent and cannot be done by Kenfreight in Mombasa. This agent will need to have a KPA account, be registered with all the shipping lines and CFS in Mombasa. Failing that, the clearance can stall and the cargo might get stuck in Mombasa port. Also, upon completing clearance, this agent will need to hand over to Kenfreight in Mombasa for transport. To make matters easier, we evidently suggest that we are appointed both in Kenya and Uganda to give you the usual all-in service and control all aspects.
