KRA rigorously enforcing Letter of Authority for customs agents

From this week onwards, KRA has started to enforce Part 11 of the Customs Act vigorously. This means that for all shipments we will need an authority letter from the consignee / receiver as mentioned on the bill of lading and other shipping documents authorizing Kenfreight EA as the clearing agent in Mombasa to obtain customs release. See below to download a template for such a letter.

While we try as much as possible to use existing communication available to us, at times the respective CSU might call upon your help to do the letter or as a principal, to push the receiver to make such a letter. Without it, we cannot get cargo release and the cargo cannot be delivered as well as being exposed to port storage and demurrage.

We hope that over time KRA will become more flexible on this but please bear with us for now as it is necessitating a lot of back and forth communication and invariably some delay in cargo delivery which we are trying to minimize.
